Gwen Sachse

Gwen has nearly a decade of educational experience as a teacher in the Madison Metropolitan School District and a corporate trainer for a regional bank. She holds a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master's degree in Adult and Continuing Education from the University of Wisconsin-MIlwaukee. Email Gwen

Betsy Frisch
Vice President (2011)
Betsy Frisch has taught special education students for a number of years and currently works with special needs children in grades 1-3. She has also worked as a Direct Instruction trainer and coach. Email Betsy

Tami McGrattan
Treasurer (2010)
Tami has nearly 30 years of experience as an educator, including 16 years as a special education teacher and a decade of consulting experience. As an independent consultant, Tami worked with schools across the country to successfully implement and support DI programs. Email Tami

SuAnn Pagel-Rast
Director (2012)
SuAnn Pagel-Rast has been teaching special education for 33 years. She has been using Direct Instruction methods and materials for 30 years. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. She currenly teaches K-5 cross-categorical special education at Almond-Bancroft Schools. Sue Owens
Director (2012)
Sue Owens has served in the education field for 40 years, first as a music teacher and then a first grade teacher. Her search for method to help struggling first graders led her to special education and Direct Instruction. Sue began teaching DI programs in 1975 and training/coaching DI programs in 1987. She has a master's degree in Special Education and has completed post-master's work in Educational Administration. Sue is currently the Curriculum Coordinator at Genesee Lake School in Oconomowoc and an independent educational consultant. Email Sue

Alicia May
Director (2011)
Alicia graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a degree in Special Education in 2008. She is currently a cross-categorical teacher at Frank Allis Elementary in Madison where she works with students in first and second grade. Email Alicia
